A Behind-the-Scenes Experience
We love welcoming the next generation of music lovers to Dearborn Symphony performances. To help children experience the energy of a live orchestra in a relaxed setting, we invite families to attend our final dress rehearsals free of charge. This unique opportunity allows young listeners to see how a performance comes together and watch the musical collaboration between our Conductor and musicians up close.
Is this a good fit for my child?
This program is ideally designed for youths ages 8 to 15. At this stage, young listeners are able to comfortably engage with a full-length rehearsal and truly appreciate the behind-the-scenes mechanics of how a large orchestra communicates on stage.
How to Attend (Space is Limited)
Dress rehearsals typically take place at 7:30 p.m. on the Thursday evening immediately preceding a scheduled concert. Because we keep these experiences small and intimate, seating is strictly limited for each rehearsal. Please follow these simple steps to secure your spots:
- Check the Calendar: Look at our upcoming concert dates to see which program fits your schedule.
- Call Our Office: Contact the Dearborn Symphony office at 313.565.2424 at least a two days prior to the rehearsal to verify the exact date, start time, and location.
- Reserve Your Spots: Let us know how many adults and children will be attending. Because of our limited seating capacity, advance registration is required, and we cannot accommodate walk-ins on rehearsal night.
Sharing the Space
To ensure our musicians can focus on their final preparation and our young guests have a great experience, we ask that a parent or guardian accompany all students. While the atmosphere is a bit more casual than a formal concert night, we ask that families help us maintain a quiet listening environment while the orchestra is playing.
