Friends of the Dearborn Symphony is a closely linked but independent association that supports the Dearborn Symphony, The 250 members of the group raise thousands of dollars annually to support all the programs of the Dearborn Symphony and other music programs in the area..
Founded in the fall of 1962 as the Women’s Association of the Dearborn Orchestral Society (WADOS) by 60 charter members. The organization raises funds through many projects and annual events. Our annual Home Tour is always a big hit. Look for more such events to come. We sell Entertainment Books, sponsor Jewelry Exchange, and Bridgerama. Watch for other special events!
In addition to fund-raising, The Friends hosts concert afterglows, dress rehearsal refreshments for musicians, and “Concert Previews,” informative and entertaining preludes to concerts. The Friends awards scholarships to outstanding music students, and sponsors music clinics and workshops for Dearborn students. A stimulus to students and teachers, these events enhance musical enjoyment and provide models of excellence.
